Abstract

This paper aims to study the term imperialism as a subdivision of evil theme in literature. Through quotations from the Shooting an Elephant, an essay by George Orwell, imperialism and its negative effects which propels people to do evil actions, is studied in this paper. In other words, this paper tries to show how imperialism's evil nature is reflected and can be considered as "civilized" evil. That is why the term imperialism is studied under the evil theme in literature and seen as modern evil.
